Whether you use the article writing tips provide below or simply focus on the SEO on your web pages, without optimizing your website or blog for search engines, particularly Google, you will lose a great deal of potential traffic. In fact, you will be lucky if your web pages are listed at all, let alone on the first two pages.
A page #1 or #2 listing will get you traffic, but you really want to be on Page #1 for a selection of your important keywords – that means being listed in the top 10 rankings. Types of Google Searches
To use SEO content writing to its fullest benefit, it is important that you understand how many other web pages are using your keyword choices. By simply carrying a search for the keyword with no delimiters you will receive results showing pages using the keyword in any form. Thus, for ‘article writing’ Google will list ‘article writing tips’, ‘writing article’, ‘articles and writing’ and pages using any phrases that uses both words in any order. It may also list pages that use only one of these two words.
By using the keyword in the form “SEO Content” the results will include web pages using only that phrase, although it could be used as part as a longer keyphrase such as “SEO Content Writing Tips”. If you use square brackets, thus: [writing articles], Google will list pages using only that phrase, with the words in the correct order.
If you carry out a search for your keyword using each of these forms, you will see the number of other sites using the same form of the keyword just below the search box on the results page. That gives you an indication of your competition.
Meta Data Tips
Don’t be dispirited if this is high, since the vast majority of these pages will be of poor quality, and you will easily beat them with some simple SEO techniques. One of these is to get your Meta content right. It is surprising how many sites, even those designed by self-proclaimed SEO web designers, fail to get the Meta content correct on every web in the website. Here are some tips.
Meta Data: The Meta data appears in the Head section of your page HTML. This is the top part before you come to the Body section which includes the visible data. The contents of the Head section are visible only to search engine robots, and are not seen on the web page.
Title Tag: This is what you see as the web page title on Google search results. It should be no more than 59 characters including spaces. Some say more or less, but that is what Google appears to use itself, so stick to 59. Include your page keyword at the beginning and any secondary keyword after that.
Description Tag: This is what you see beneath the title on your Google listing. Include your main keyword early, and describe the meaning of your web page. Use no more than 160 characters, including spaces.
Keyword Tag: Not many search engines use this, but it does no harm to include it. List no more than 5 keywords or phrases that describe your website, separating each with a comma.
